Transdermal estradiol: how it works for you
Why through the skin
Because of your migraine with aura we chose the gel instead of tablets. Oestrogen taken as a tablet passes through the liver and can raise the risk of a clot; through the skin it does not.
How to use it
One pump on the inner arm every morning, spread it and let it dry before you dress. Progesterone every evening; it also helps your sleep.
What to expect
- Flushes ease within two to four weeks
- Tender breasts or spotting in the first weeks are commonThey usually settle. Tell us if they do not.
- Call us if your migraine with aura returns
